BIMI Readiness Checks

What This BIMI Checker Validates

BIMI depends on more than one DNS record. This checker reviews the key authentication, logo, hosting, and certificate signals that affect whether your brand logo appears in supported inboxes.

01

BIMI DNS Record

Checks whether your BIMI TXT record is published, readable, and using the correct selector format at default._bimi.yourdomain.com.
02

DMARC Enforcement

Reviews whether your domain uses p=quarantine or p=reject. A p=none policy is monitoring-only and will cause BIMI to fail.
03

SPF & DKIM Alignment

Verifies whether your authentication setup supports DMARC alignment — both must align to your From domain, not just pass independently.
04

Logo File Accessibility

Checks whether your SVG logo URL is publicly reachable over HTTPS without redirects, CDN restrictions, or certificate errors.
05

VMC / CMC Certificate

Detects whether your BIMI record includes an accessible certificate reference. Gmail requires a valid VMC for logo display.
06

Overall Readiness Score

Summarizes your domain’s BIMI setup with a score out of 100 and practical next steps based on what was found.

Score Breakdown

Understanding Your BIMI Readiness Score

Your score is calculated out of 100 and reflects how well your domain meets the technical requirements for BIMI deployment.

BIMI Record Found & Valid
Correct selector, valid syntax, and an accessible logo URL referenced in the record.
SPF Configured Correctly
Valid record, within DNS lookup limits, with strict enforcement passing alignment checks.
DMARC Fully Enforced
p=quarantine or p=reject with full coverage (pct=100) — the strongest DMARC configuration and a requirement for VMC eligibility.
Certificate Valid & Accessible
VMC or CMC URL is reachable, correctly formatted, and not expired.
Alignment Passing
SPF and DKIM both align to your visible From domain across legitimate sending sources.
A score of 100 confirms your technical setup is complete. It does not guarantee inbox logo display — mailbox providers like Gmail also evaluate sender reputation, spam complaint history, and email engagement independently.

Troubleshooting

Common BIMI Errors Detected

Use these results to understand what may be stopping your logo from displaying.

No BIMI Record Found
Your BIMI TXT record may be missing, published under the wrong selector, or still propagating. It should be at default._bimi.yourdomain.com. DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to fully propagate.
DMARC Not Enforced
Your domain is using p=none, which is monitoring-only. Move to p=quarantine or p=reject after confirming your legitimate sending sources are correctly authenticated.
Logo URL Unreachable
Your SVG file may be blocked, redirected, or served with incorrect headers. Point directly to the final HTTPS URL with no redirects, verify the correct MIME type (image/svg+xml), and if hosted behind a CDN, disable hotlink protection and geo-restrictions.
Certificate URL Missing or Invalid
Your BIMI record may not include a reachable VMC or CMC reference. Gmail requires a valid VMC for logo display; Yahoo may show logos without one in some cases.
Passed But Logo Still Not Showing
Even after all technical checks pass, mailbox providers evaluate sender reputation, authentication consistency, spam complaint history, and domain age. Continue sending authenticated mail consistently and allow time for reputation signals to build.

FAQs

BIMI Checker FAQs

Common questions about BIMI validation, DNS configuration, and verified logo display.

Why is my BIMI record not detected?

Your record must be a TXT record at default._bimi.yourdomain.com. Check for the wrong subdomain, missing semicolons, unsupported tags, or incomplete DNS propagation. Changes can take up to 48 hours.

What does "Full enforcement" mean in DMARC results?

Your DMARC policy applies to 100% of your mail (pct=100) at quarantine or reject level. This is the strongest configuration and a requirement for VMC eligibility.

What does "VMC Eligible" mean?

Your domain's DMARC, SPF, and DKIM alignment meet the baseline requirements to apply for a Verified Mark Certificate. You still need to apply through an authorised CA like DigiCert or Entrust, and you'll need a registered trademark.

What does "Invalid SVG Tiny P/S format" mean?

BIMI requires a restricted SVG format. Standard exports from tools like Illustrator or Figma typically contain unsupported elements, embedded rasters, or transparency. Use a BIMI-specific SVG conversion tool to clean the file.

What is the difference between a VMC and CMC?

A VMC (Verified Mark Certificate) requires a registered trademark and is issued by CAs like DigiCert or Entrust. A CMC does not require trademark registration but has limited mailbox provider support. Gmail currently requires a VMC.

My score is 100 — why is my logo still not showing in Gmail?

A perfect score confirms your technical setup is correct, but Gmail also evaluates sender reputation, spam complaints, and email engagement independently. Allow a few weeks of consistent authenticated sending for Gmail's systems to build confidence in your domain.

What does "DMARC policy not enforced" mean?

Your DMARC policy is set to p=none, which is monitoring-only. BIMI requires p=quarantine or p=reject. Update your DMARC record and recheck once DNS has propagated.

What does "SPF or DKIM alignment failed" mean?

SPF or DKIM may be passing technically, but the authenticated domain does not match your visible From address. This commonly happens with third-party sending platforms that use their own return-path or signing domain.

What if my result shows "Not VMC Eligible"?

Your DMARC policy is likely not fully enforced, or SPF/DKIM alignment is failing. Fix those issues first, recheck your score, and once you reach full compliance you can proceed with a VMC application.

Why does the checker show "Logo file inaccessible"?

Your SVG URL must be directly reachable over HTTPS with no redirects, login walls, or CDN restrictions. Verify the server returns the correct MIME type (image/svg+xml) and that your SSL certificate is valid.

Why is my logo visible in Yahoo but not Gmail?

Yahoo accepts self-asserted BIMI in some cases — no certificate required. Gmail requires a valid VMC. If your result shows VMC Eligible, obtaining a VMC is your next step toward Gmail logo display.

Do I need a trademark to implement BIMI?

Not for a basic BIMI record — you can publish one without a certificate. But to display your logo in Gmail you need a VMC, which requires a registered trademark. Yahoo and some other providers may show your logo without one.
